Teachers or the next teachers of mathematics as a researcher may be deliberately make changes in the learning of mathematics in the school by conducting various experiments,  so emerged scientific method. Quantitative research considers that learning mathematics  are objectives and measurable. Quantitative studies researchers examined were neutral and only the symptoms can be observed and measured by a valid and reliable instrument. Neutrality enable research can be replicated.
Nasution (1992) recognize that human experience is so complex that it cannot be bound by a particular theory. The theory must be open, the mean is ready to be revised at any time. No education is neutral, then there is no research also neutral.
Studies with realistic hermeneutic teachers or researchers focused on the aspects certain of learning mathematics with business confidence will be able to uncover or explain the world who are facing the world of learning mathematics.  scope of research depends on the researcher's own  decisive. In the simplest level the teacher can examine the relationship between characteristics of students with achievement of learning outcomes, or the relationship between the attitudes of teachers with students' creativity.  Judging from the mathematics education research procedure can be carried out with various different emphases. Such as historical research and descriptive research.  Characteristics of mathematics was different depending on the type of mathematics is pure mathematics, applied mathematics or mathematics school.
Meanwhile, Shigeo Katagiri (2004) describes that the reasoning of mathematics in schools can include three main aspects of reasoning related to the attitude (attitude), reasoning that relates to a method (method), and reasoning relating to the content of mathematics (content).
